As you may know, I am a librarian, and next month, I will be in Asheville, NC for a professional conference. I will be there during a weekend, so of course I wanted to scope out local churches.
It just so happens that my hotel is close to the Basilica of St. Lawrence. This is cool for a few reasons.
First, St. Lawrence is just awesome. He was cooked to death on a gridiron, but legend says that he was not very perturbed by that; he declared to his executors, “You can turn me over now, I’m done on this side.” Or something to that effect.
Second, St. Lawrence is a Patron Saint of librarians!
Third, just look at the place!
I’m relieved. I think I’ll like this basilica. I look forward to being there in person!

Hey, you’ll be in my state! :) Checkout Biltmore Mansion while you’re there too. Vanderbilt home and the big tourist attraction there.
