Does anybody have any experience with this site? Or know anybody who does?
I’m just curious.

It has a repuation among single Catholics of being rather full of serious catholics who practice their faith, it is more expensive than its main competitor Catholic Match, and based on having watched the video series that they put out (the road to cana) I was impressed with the founder. Some amazing solid people on those videos. And some amazing priests, catholic professionals, and a very nice single catholic woman who helps host a few of the episodes and talks about her own experience with online dating.
But I have not used AMS ever myself, nor Catholic Match. I know someone who is on Catholic Match, and she is finding it a struggle. Not that it wouldn’t be a struggle with the other guys. It’s just, well. Nothing’s perfect. I guess that’s my hunch. It’s worth trying out, maybe one, then the other? I dunno.
I think I know a guy who is on AMS. He thought it was great. You know what I think, in both cases? There are probably 10 devout catholic women who have their stuff in order, and are really ready for Catholic marriage, for every one catholic guy with his stuff together. You know what I mean? Doesn’t live in his mom’s basement. Emotionally grown-up. Not married seven times, with seven decrees of nullity, and seventeen children with his seven ex spouses, all of whom are still his Bestest Friends Forever.
My female friend who is on Catholic Match could tell you some doozy stories.

I have been on both CM and Ave Maria Singles and prefer AMS. I find the people on there to be a bit more serious about their faith. Also, the founder Anthony Buono is a very good Catholic man who seems very grounded and dedicated to helping us navigate through Catholic Dating. His Road to Cana series is very good.
Although, like any situation where you would meet others singles, you MUST be cautious and be smart about it. Yes, there are some goofs! If there is one thing that you get from being on Ave Maria Singles, is the sense that you are not the only single Catholic left unmarried! Sometimes it can be so discouraging. It gave me back my “hope” in someday meeting a good Catholic Hubby!
For those who are serious….the cost is quite reasonable. Plus, how could you possibly put a price on meeting your soulmate? If I meet my mate, I’ll pay Anthony another full-priced membership just to thank him!!

Thank you for your input, Allison! I am planning to join AMS. I need to save a few more pennies, but I agree that the cost is not at all unreasonable. All those sites cost money, and I think AMS is by far the best value out there.
